November Newsletter

---

Goodbye October

October was packed full of events, many being breast cancer awareness related. We had a few days out at the Dixie Classic Fair, we went to many local middle and high school “Pink Out” sporting events, and attended Forsyth Tech’s Fall Festival. We also went to Oooh Bra La La in Kernersville, the Boots & Bras fundraiser for Cancer Services, many community events, and, of course, several home/hospital visits.

My first month as new president of the Triad Pink Heals went fairly smooth for being our busiest time of the year. As I look forward to ending out the year well, and make plans for the new year, I hope to see and meet many of you out at events. I have several ideas I want to implement in the new year that will keep us more accessible to those we have visited and let the community know we are still here and we still CARE.

Hello November

To start off November, I first want to thank You, the community, that makes our organization possible. We are here to serve you, love you, and support you. Without your support, merchandise purchases, donations, and volunteering, we could not exist. November is a month of gratitude and thanksgiving, being a cancer survivor myself, touched by the Triad Pink Heals early on, I also want to say thank you to those who helped start this organization, as well express my gratitude to be alive, and to be able to serve the community in this new way.

What many people tend to forget when they see the pink vehicles out and about around town that we support so much more than breast cancer alone. We support children, women and men in the community who battle ANY type of cancer, and it is our mission to support any member of the community plagued by illness and disease. We promote the community helping the community, local fundraising, and an overall love of people. We cannot do this without you, which is why I thank you.

Here’s some events we have in November:
This weekend we will be at the 33rd Annual Northwest Fire & Rescue College at Wilkes Community College (we still need some volunteers) Friday through Sunday. Next Saturday we will be at Mt. Hope Fire Dept.’s Auxiliary Fall Extravaganza in the morning followed by the Hoof & Paw Chicken Stew in Lexington that evening. Sunday, the 13th, we will be at The Full Moon Oyster Bar in Clemmons for a fundraiser for Christina Cooper who is currently battling cancer and is in need, we would love to see you out there to help support her. The remaining weekends we have potential home visits that are being scheduled.

Remember, anytime you would like to schedule an event or surprise home visit you can do so on the website.

To Our Volunteers

Thank you to our many volunteers who helped get us through the busy times. We appreciate you and your dedication. I have a new Volunteer Rewards Program that will be starting this month as a way to say thank you for you help. For every event or visit that you attend you will receive a $5 rewards card that can be put towards Triad Pink Heals merchandise. You can save up your cards if you’d like to purchase higher price point times and cash them all in at once. If you’ve recently volunteered and would like a card please email me and I will get them to you.

Thank you for your help in October!:

Jerry O’Neal, Angela Ford, Brian Alley, Charles Goins, Tina Goins, James Albury, Jennifer Karels, Mike Ingram, Teri Ingram, Peggy Williams, Shannon Lunsford, Tammy Flowers, Taylor Welch, Victoria Smith, Tonya Wilkins, Dusty Wilkins, Caroline Cox, Leann Myers Brady, and the many others who helped with the National Tour in September.

We are looking for Volunteer Mentors, this will be a new program to help support new volunteers coming in. If you are interested in taking on this please send me an email at whitney@triadpinkheals.org with the subject line Mentor. You are very needed to help keep the organization running, and running smoothly.

We now have VOLUNTEER shirts. If you are in need of one please email me with the size shirt you wear in men’s sizes. Email whitney@triadpinkheals.org with subject line Volunteer Shirt. To get a shirt we ask that you have volunteered at least twice in the past year with the intentions of volunteering in the future. A general request is that our volunteers attend 4 events/visits a year; however, we would love to see you out at as many as possible.

We are always looking for new volunteers, if you are interested please go to the website www.triadpinkheals.org and sign up there.

With Gratitude & Love,
